This is the second section of a three-part Christian reflection on the story from the Genesis narratives to the 21st century, in one unfolding panorama.

We begin with Jesus of Nazareth and the community gathered around him, through to Medieval Christendom, with their claims that Church and State are one. What can we learn from this story of passion for mission, patience through persecution, politics and schism, theological debate, barbarians and hermits, plus radical voices challenging the status quo?
